Stop Blogging, Start Shredding

I followed the trend and shredded a shirt a la Camille.

I LOOOOOVE it!
she is a genius.
Oh, and I thrifted this scarf and I love it too!

Then a few days ago Tyler and I decided to take another go at acid washing and it worked a little better this time.

My favorite black halter vest isn't mine anymore.. it's my little sisters which looks just like mine but smaller. :) Oh, and you can't see it but I have a new pendant necklace that I made with the heart off of a chail that was connected to a purse my mother bought at Tilly's.

Music...
The new Minus The Bear acoustic song off their new entirely acoustic CD. It's all their old music just done acoustically, plus a new song, Guns and Ammo..

Soma SD

I love our venue,
tonight I saw Chiodos, Silverstein, Escape the Fate, Alesana, and a Skylit Drive. It was AMAZING. It was also the most packed show I've ever been to. The entire building was full to the brim with moshing teens, tweens, and twenty-somethings alike.

Silverstein performed their song My Heroin acoustically... it was beautiful. So enjoy..

I swear I'm trying to take outfit pics but my camera keeps taking super grainy ones that no amount of photoshop will fix. So I'm working on that.

In other news... Nylon, I'm disappointed... Paris Hilton!?!?!? No no no.

AAAANNNNDDD I want the Mary-Kate and Ashley book Inspiration for Christmas. (or Halloween, or any day someone feels like giving me a present) :D

Roots

but my hair's too fried to keep bleaching. any ideas?

I'm going to open an etsy I think. I made this etch-a-sketch necklace and it makes me happy :)

I'm in crazy midterm mode this week, which is why posts are sparse and short.

Music-
This vid by The Buddy System... math music scientist geniuses, no words, just angry monsters. Tyler and I watched it millions of times.

Latest Concert

We The Kings & The Academy Is last night = <3
I usually don't go to super mainstream shows because all of the twelve year olds get on my nerves but I couldn't pass up this one.

So I walked away with an AA We The Kings Owns Your Face shirt and a confirmed crush on William Bekket. He's so gorgeous in person, and he knows it too, which makes me like him more. The boy definately didn't like my gushing, but he gushed over Hey Monday's (the opening band) lead singer. Okay I admit I slightly gushed over her too. They sound like, well Paramore, but don't let that discourage you, this girl can actually sing instead of that talky-babble Hayley Williams has been messing with lately. But Hey Monday was a great band, and she was pretty hot too. So definately look into them if you're looking for something that sounds like Paramore, but done right. (still the same amount of "Woah!"s and "La la la"s though) Oh, Carolina Liar played too. (the "I'm not over you just yet.." guys) They looked like they needed showers and haircuts but they have a great sound. We The Kings did a cover of The Gorillaz's Feel Good Inc. and it was so good. Here's them doing it at another show:

Some girls from Band Vibe came by and took our pic, so instead of re-creating my outfit, I'll just post that one when they put it up. I think I'm going to look into that site for a job, because the San Diego team they have now doesn't cover the shows I go to, so I could definately help fill that gap... I just need a better camera.... any takers on giving me one? :)

This Song is Hard to Find

I was featured again by the lovely Suz on Weardrobe here. :)
And I finally joined Modepass after so many people raving to me about it. You can click the link or go here- http://modepass.com/mollieaesthetic to add me.
No outfit today, I woke up late after my all night essay writing and threw on my purple t-shirt, cut-offs, black sneakers, and went to school to turn in my paper.
But I was singing this song in my head all day. It was featured on Degrassi in probably January of last year (when they killed off JT), and still it's nowhere to be found! So YouTube was my last resort.

I must have an obsession with girl singers lately, but Damhnait Doyle is incredible. Her voice is so perfect and this song is so amazing. Read the lyrics if you have the time to watch/listen to this song. They will make you want to life life to the fullest, and will make a sensitive person out of even the biggest hardass.

Now to figure out how to make a YouTube account for the Tyler video I took.. hmm..

I'm Sick

bleh.
Today's outfit for a night in with the boy:

I LOVE those jeans, I bought them at Saks years ago.

Music:
Her Space Holiday
They make me happy. They sound like Stars in their older album and just came out with a new one. I don't like it as much as the old ones because the singer talks a lot more instead of sings. But I still adore this band.

Where I Was Today

One Hot Minute was soo good too. Radio Racer, not so much, stop bothering me in the mall guys.

This is what I wore:

It was freeezing today, so when I got out of the shower I saw my dad's big Pink Floyd shirt laying in the clean clothes hamper and I thought it would be warm and easy, so I pinned it back with and old brooch and wore it like an awesome tunic.

Tyler came over today and we tried home acid washing some jeans, but after twenty minutes of Clorox they only got a little lighter. We're going to bleach them dry first next time.
But he did do his dance and I got it on video after some persuasion so I'll post that soon.

Good night lovelies!

Weardrobe

Suz (from weardrobe) is the sweetest person ever! I was featured here... http://www.weardrobe.com/wstylebook under the most amazing 12 year old ever.. Tavi! I don't look even half as awesome as she does, but I'm glad to be up there :)

I promise to reply to all of your comments tomorrow, because I'm exhausted.
Goodnight everyone.
Sweet dreams!

The Heat In October

Blows. There were already fires starting again. As long as there's no FIRESTORM 08, I'm good. I'm still not over the one from last year.

This is what I wore to combat the heat:

All black, yea genius I know.
lace bodysuits=itchy.. but I still love mine :)

Music:
The Honorary Title
Pretty pretty pretty. I remember when my ex showed them to me last year and I listened for hours, now they're being played in the background of television shows and whatnot. Gosh I love this band.

Heels Are Not For College

Today I had to give a presentation and dress 'business casual' so I wore my AA shirt dress belted and Anne Klein shoes. (the ones I wore with my fringe vest the other day) Oww, not the smartest choice for stomping around college for a few hours, not to mention running across a parking lot to catch a trolley. So now my pinky toe is at least twice it's normal size, and my presentation was pretty terrible too.
But yesterday's outfit (and the lookbook comments on it) makes me happy..

I am not confident that the odd plaid shirt looks good tucked into the AA skirt like that, but those shoes are like heaven, they are more comfortable than sneakers.
Story time:
Tyler came over yesterday and we played Scrabble, which frustrates the both of us to no end because neither of us have much patience to wait fot the other to spell a word. Needless to say we only lasted one game, with the toughest words being 'taupe' and 'orc' (which he was very proud to find is in the dictionary) My sister spelt 'from' with an upside down W and used a letter upside down as a blank and we didn't catch on until the game was over. Terrible. But it was amusing.
Oh and, thank you for the lovely comments, Tyler was happy to hear that he was called stylish. I almost took a video of his happy dance... almost. Maybe I will for more comments, it's pretty entertaining.
Here's another Tyler pic for motivation

Yes, he made that at his work, and yes he wore it to high school one day at lunch. He is embarassed by nothing. He also wore it to my house and attacked my dad. Strange kid.

Now the music part: (which I'm probably going to weasel into every post because music is that amazing to me)
Obsession of the day:
Chick Singers. More specifically Gregory and the Hawk and Soko. Both of these ladies have amazing voices. I have been in love with Gregory and the Hawk for about a year now, and Soko for only a few days, and they are both on repeat at the moment. My favorite Gregory song is I Wish, but I could only find mp3 covers of it, so I put the more popular song Boats and Birds on this music player. But this song is incredible too, the words are so sweet. "If you'll be my star, I'll be your sky..." The Soko song's meaning runs deep with me because my boy has just 'professed his love' and this song is about her having a boy do the same and say that he loves her more than everything and she's not buying it and listing things she will always love more than him. It's definately my Myspace song too :)

Thrift and Swap Meet

So my thrifting buddy and best friend Tyler and I went to the swap meet Sunday. For five bucks I left with a bunch of bangles and a ring :) Oh, and for a dollar I bought Tyler a cactus which he promptly gave some random mexican name. I have yet to show a good pic of Tyler, and he was really proud he wore a thrifty outfit the other day, so here are some photos from the last few days:
This is Tyler in all his thrifty snake-bitey glory:

flannel shirt:thrift shop in Encinitas
communist shirt:Rags thrift store in Hillcrest
Ya he's a proud socialist... whatever.

And here's me and my new bangles :)

And.. the band I'm obsessed with at the moment-
Great Lake Swimmers
My boy calls is naptime mucic, but I love it. It's so calm and serene and I didn't do them justice with just these four songs. It's acoustic and his voice is incredible and calming. I listened to this for an hour today. (the trolley ride both ways) It definately helped me tune out the hobos and middle aged men who try and talk to me or the woman yelling random phrases at the other trolley patrons.

Music Post!

Yay! I'm really excited about new music, so this entry is going to be delving into bands that I've become recently enamored with, I hope you take a listen and love them as much as I do!

First up, Owl City
http://www.myspace.com/owlcity

This music is addicting! Their Myspace claims that their genre is Electronica/Pop, but don't let that scare you away, it's pretty music with amazing vocals that aren't completely synthed out. My favorite song is Saltwater Room, there is a girl singing as well and it's so beautiful. All of his music has such a happy beat. Take one listen, and you'll be addicted too. My whole town has become enamored with Owl City!

NeverShoutNever!
http://www.myspace.com/nevershoutnever

Pretty, pretty, pretty. This young prodigy is an amazing one-man band. If you've heard The Rocket Summer, he's got the same one-man vibe. But NeverShoutNever! is acoustic yet very catchy. His voice is so good, and his songs are about breakups and love.
"But the summer is a bummer
If you can't leave
This pathetic excuse for a town
That holds all your memories
A lifetime of crushes and your broken dreams
To be anywhere but here
But baby anywhere is away from me" - BigCityDreams
Take a listen, it's cute music if you're loving life or just need a pick-me-up.Oh, and did I mention he's good looking.. definately :)

Kings of Leon
www.myspace.com/kingsofleon

When I heard that Kings of Leon recently became a huge hit, I did a double take, because Kings of Leon has been around since 2003. My favorite abum of theirs is still the 2005 release Aha Shake Heartbreak. Caleb's voice is so unique sounding that you have to give this band a listen. My favorite song has always been Four Kicks, but that sadly isn't on their Myspace. I urge you to listen to it and try and guess exactly what he's saying, then look up the lyrics to see how wrong you were. That's why it's my favorite song. Also Molly's Chambers, but I think thats just because my name is Mollie.

Amanda Palmer
www.myspace.com/whokilledamandapalmer

If you haven't heard the Dresden Dolls, you're missing out. Their leading lady Amanda Palmer has now gone solo, and her music is just as amazing. Just by looking at this woman you can tell what her music will sound like, so why wouldn't you want to listen? She's amazing.

Jack's Mannequin
http://www.myspace.com/jacksmannequin

This "side project piano-rock band" just keeps getting more amazing. I guarentee every song will be stuck in your head. This is a side project of Andrew McMahon, the lead singer of Something Corporate. I have loved this band since the beginning and with the new album I definately still do. His voice is aaammmaazzziinnggg! Listen.. now! :)

One Hot Minute

This band of cuties is so awesome and catchy. I always find myself singing Miracle in my head. They are pop rock and if you like bands like All Time Low you'll love these guys. I promise!!

Mommy's Earrings

I was routing through my mother's jewelry the other day on a quest to find this amazing necklace I gave her a few years back that she never wears, and I came across some old clip-on earrings. So I played with the large floral designs, and this is going to sound gross, but I found that with the size my ears are gauged to I can put the clip part through my ears and treat them like regular earrings. But now I really want to find something to wear one of mom's many pairs with in public. Here's a shot of one of my favorite pairs.. and now you can see what my actual face looks like.. eek.

Naturally Curly

The vest was too big, but I put some ingenuity into it and pinned it back with paperclips! You can't see them and now it fits perfectly :)

Shoe Porn

If I ever saw it..

Rock and Republic... must have.. now.
Thank you for inventing that term Rumi.

Eat Your Heart Out Bliss Lau

I made my own body chain and I'm extremely proud of it!

You can wear the long chain part up over your arms then it's like a double necklace concoction.

This is one of Bliss Lau's chains..

They're really easy to make, but I used cheap chain that I bought a few months back and it breaks really easily. I bought new nice chain for necklace making, but I decided to use the cheap stuff for my first body chain attempt, which was probably the smart thing to do. All in all it only took fifteen minutes to make, but I wasn't being a perfectionist either. So... what do you think??
